Join us! We are all leaders! Everyone’s voice matters!
We received the message below this morning (April 21, 2016) and we share it verbatim ahead of today’s protests and the pro-regime counter-protests hosted by the ruling party VMRO-DPMNE.
“This afternoon I will be at the protests. This same afternoon, there is an announcement of large counter-protests. I decided to make this address because I feel that the divisions between the people (the two “groups” of people – pro-democracy protests and pro-regime counter-protests) are big enough. I would like to reach out to my friends with whom I discuss less and less due to differences in political positions.
First, I want to let you know what my position is. #iProtest. #iProtest because this situation cannot be tolerated any longer; the criminal activities, the divide between people, the mocking of common sense and reason. #iProtest because I want RADICAL change, not only change of the government, I want my country – mine, yours, our Macedonia to move forward! At the moment, Macedonia is a country burdened with huge poverty levels and largest inequality in Europe, whose debt is rising and flowing in the private pockets of the politicians. Me and the others with me on the streets protesting, we are particularly angry about the pardon given by the president Ivanov to all criminals-politicians.
Some of you think that we are paid to protest. However, I have not taken any funding from any Macedonian or foreign foundation to #protest. Nor I protest because someone ordered me to do so. This is a protest aiming to open a new page. Enough with 25 years of transition, it is about time for the people to come and take what is theirs. #iProtest is not a political party. #iProtest is not an NGO. #iProtest is personal and singular. There is no leaders, no spokespersons. In fact, we are all leaders, everyone’s voice matters.
#iProtest every day with people that I know, and with those I have not met before; we get to know each other every day. We do not agree on everything. But while protesting on the streets, we can talk about everything, we can argue, debate, get angry at each other and make up again. #iProtest because I want this feeling of freedom to govern this country, I want you to feel it too, you the people that I know and care deeply for in my heart.
We have been growing up together, we had been friends with each other, and when this is all over, we would need to live together again. Do not allow that we watch each other across the police barricades, and treat each other as enemies. I know that some of you may not want to participate at the counter-protest and feel as if they have no choice. There is always choice. To start with – stay at home. Or, join us! Let’s build the future together, let’s build the new society together. Without Gruevski and his fellows, or Zaev and his, without Menduh, or Ali and their fellows; Without foreign diplomats and dishonest agreements – it is up to us, the citizens of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, men and women – to act together in solidarity and piece.
I do not hate you, I do not think you are stupid, nor I think you are less valuable than I am. I see you as my co-citizens with whom I want to build a new society together. I believe this is possible despite all, and that’s why #iProtest.

Утрово (21 април 2016) ја добивме поракава и ја споделуваме интегрално во пресрет на денешните протести и најавените про-режимски контра-протести.
„Вечерва јас ќе #протестирам. Исто така, за вечерва се најавени големи контрапротести. Бидејќи сметам дека поделбите меѓу народот се доволно големи, го правам овој чекор, им се обраќам на моите пријателки и пријатели со кои сѐ помалку зборуваме заради различните политички ставови.
Прво, да ве запознаам со мојата определба. Јас #протестирам. #Протестирам зошто не се трпи повеќе. Не се трпи повеќе овој грабеж, овие поделби на народот, ова исмејување на разумот. #Протестирам затоа што не сакам само замена на власта, сакам КОРЕНИТА промена и сакам мојата, твојата, нашата и ваша Македонија да оди напред! Таа во моментов е земја со огромна сиромаштија и најголема нееднаквост во Европа, со долг кој расте и буџет кој се одлева во џебовите на политичарите. Јас и оние кои се со мене на улиците сме особено лути на аболицијата за сите криминалци-политичари од страна на претседателот Иванов.
Некои од вас мислат дека сме платеници. Но, за да #протестирам немам земено пари од ниту една домашна или странска фондација. Нити пак го правам затоа што некој ми наредува. Ова е протест кој има за цел да сврти нова страница. Доста беа 25 години транзиција, време е за народот да си дојде по своето. #Протестирам не е партија. #Протестирам не е невладина. #Протестирам е прво лице еднина. Нема еден лидер, нема портпарол. Сите сме лидери, сечиј глас е битен.
#Протестирам секој ден со луѓе кои ги знам, и со кои не сме се знаеле претходно, но се запознаваме секој ден. Не се согласуваме за сѐ. Но на протест, на улица, можеме за сѐ да зборуваме, да се расправаме и надмудруваме, да се лутиме и да се смируваме. #Протестирам затоа што сакам таквото чувство на слобода да завладее во ова општество, сакам да го почувствувате и вие, луѓето кои ги знам и за кои длабоко во моето срце се грижам.
Сме растеле заедно, сме се дружеле и кога сево ова ќе заврши, ќе треба пак да живееме заедно. Не дозволувајте вечер да се гледаме преку полициските кордони и да гледаме едни на други како душмани. Знам дека некои од вас можеби и не сакаат да одат на контрапротест и дека се чувствуваат како да немаат избор. Секогаш имате избор – за почеток, останете дома. Или дојдете со нас! Заедно ќе ја градиме иднината, заедно ќе го градиме новото општество. Без Грујовци, Заевци, Мендуховци и Алии, без странски дипломати и непринципиелни договори – ние, граѓанки и граѓани, млади и стари, од сите етнички заедници, во солидарност и во мир.
Јас не ве мразам, не сметам дека сте глупи, ниту ве сметам за помалку вредни од себе. Сметам дека сте мои сограѓанки и сограѓани и сакам да градам ново општество со вас. Верувам дека тоа и покрај сѐ е можно и затоа #протестирам.

Shpallje për veprim të përbashkët
Të hidhëruar nga shkatërrimi i asaj pak që ka mbetur nga shtetësia e Maqedonisë, të mllefosur nga tekat me të cilat Nikolla Gruevski dhe bashkëpuntorët e poltronët e tij shkatërrojnë ardhmërinë e gjeneratave të reja të qytetarëve dhe qytetareve të Maqedonisë, në pamundësi që të rrimë pa bërë zë dhe të vëzhgojmë si memecë shpërbërjen e gjithë asaj që është demokratike, duke refuzuar të bëjmë kompromis dhe pazarllëqe me regjim jolegjitim,
Ne, të cilët protestuam nëpër rrugët e Maqedonisë në emër të lirisë, drejtësisë dhe barazisë, e dërgojmë këtë SHPALLJE PËR VEPRIM TË PËRBASHKËT drejt të gjithë atyre forcave liri- dhe drejtësi-dashëse në shoqëri, nën flamurin e luftës së përbashkët për çlirim nga despotët e korruptuar të cilët na sollën deri në cepin e humnerës dhe shkatrrimit të plotë.
Ju ftojmë në protestë masive, sot, e mërkurë 13 prill 2016, e cila do të fillojë përpara zyrave të Prokurorisë Publike Speciale në Shkup. Kërkojmë:
- Fillimin e procesit për përzgjedhjen e qeverisë së ekspertëve, e cila do të përgatisë terenin për zgjedhje vërtetë të lira, të besueshme dhe demokratike dhe e cila do të ndihmojë, në vend që të sabotojë, ballafaqimin e politikanëve dhe pushtetarëve me drejtësinë për veprat e bëra penale dhe kriminele;
- Dorëheqjen e Presidentit të Republikës për shkak të tentativës së turpshme që të pengojë drejtësinë dhe të abolojë kriminelët;
- Për fund, kërkojmë suspendim urgjent të procesit të filluar për shpalljen e zgjedhjeve parlamentare.
Do të protestojmë çdo ditë në ora 18:00! Protesta do të jetë e zëshme sidomos të premten, më 15 prill, përpara Kuvendit të Republikës së Maqedonisë, atëherë kur është paralajmëruar se do të shpallen zgjedhjet e parakohshme.
Ftojmë për veprim të përbashkët të gjithë qytetaret dhe qytetarët, të gjithë organizatat qytetare formale dhe joformale, sidomos plenumet, përfshirë edhe Plenumin Studentor, Plenumin e Profesorëve, Plenumin e Mësimdhënësve, si dhe LM Solidariteti, Ajde, Lenka, Mugra, sindikatat, iniciativat urbane, organizatat të cilat ishin pjesë e Koalicionit “Qytetarët për Maqedoninë” dhe të gjithë ata të cilët ndajnë mllefin por edhe dëshirën për drejtësi dhe demokraci, që t’ju kyçen protestave.
Drejtojmë thirrje të posaçme drejt partisë më të madhe politike opozitare Lëvizjes Social- Demokratike të Maqedonisë si dhe partnerëve dhe mbështetësve të saj, që të qëndrojnë pas këtyre kërkesave dhe të kyçen në numër sa më të madh. I ftojmë edhe partitë opozitare politike të tjera: Të Majtën, Lidhjen Demokratike, Partinë Liberale të Maqedonisë, Përtrirjen Demokratike për Maqedoninë, Të Bashkuar për Maqedoninë, Lëvizjen BESA, Lëvizjen për Reforma, Unitetin dhe të gjithë të tjerët që të kyçen me masovitet sa më të lartë. I ftojmë edhe përkrahësit e partive në pushtet të cilët nuk mund të durojnë më mosrespektimin arrogant të drejtësisë dhe të luajturit me ardhmërinë e këtijë populli, që të na bashkohen dhe së bashku të fillojmë procesin e kthimit të besimit në institucionet e Maqedonisë.
Këto protesta janë të të gjithë qytetareve dhe qytetarëve. Protestat na takojnë të gjithë neve, të bashkuar në mllefin ndaj këtijë qorrsokaku të vazhdueshëm dhe në nevojën për një ardhmëri më të mirë, që ka për bazë themele demokratike.

Proclamation for Joint Action
Embittered by the destruction of what little remains from Macedonia’s statehood, infuriated at the autocracy of Nikola Gruevski, his collaborators and clients, that is destroying a future for generations of Macedonian citizens, unable to sit quietly and observe the annihilation of all things democratic, we refuse to compromise and bargain with the illegitimate regime.
We, who have protested on the streets of Macedonia in the name of freedom, justice and equality, send this PROCLAMATION FOR JOINT ACTION to all freedom and justice loving forces in the society under the flag of the common struggle for liberation from the corrupt despots that have pushed us to the edge of complete destruction.
We call for a mass protest, today, Wednesday 13 April 2016, which will start from the offices of the Special Prosecutor in Skopje. We demand:
- The commencement of a process for the election of an expert government, which will prepare the groundwork necessary for truly free, credible and democratic elections to be held; and which instead of sabotaging, will help the process by which politicians and those in positions of power will be confronted with justice for the illegal and criminal acts which they have committed;
- Resignation of the President of the Republic, for his shameful attempt to obstruct justice and to abolition the criminals;
- Finally, we demand urgent suspension of the ongoing call for parliamentary elections.
We will protest every day at 18:00! The protest will be especially vocal on Friday, 15 April, outside of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, when early elections are expected to be called.
We call for the joint action of all the citizens, of all the formal and informal organizations of citizens, including the Student Plenum, the Professors Plenum, the HighSchool Plenum, as well as LD Solidarnost, Ajde, Lenka, Mugra, the trade unions, the urban initiatives, the organizations that were part of the coalition “Citizens of Macedonia”, as well as all others who share the fury, but also the wish for justice and democracy, to join the protests.
We particularly call on the largest opposition party The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia to support these demands and to join in as large numbers as possible. We also call on the other opposition parties: Levica, The Democratic Union, Liberal Party of Macedonia, Democratic Renewal of Macedonia, Dostoinstvo, The Alliance for Positive Macedonia, United for Macedonia, Movement BESA, Movement for reforms, Uniteti and all others to join in large numbers.
Additionally, we call on all those supporters of the political parties in power who can no longer bear their insolent obstruction of justice and their squandering of the future of the people, to join us also, so that we can together start a process for returning the trust in the institutions and the trust in Macedonia.
These protests belong to all citizens. The protests belong to all of us, united by the fury of the current deadlock, but also by the urge for a better future founded on democracy.
IT IS HIGH TIME! SEE YOU ON THE STREETS!

Огорчени од уништувањето на она малку преостанато од државноста на Македонија, гневни на самоволието со кое Никола Груевски и неговите соработници и полтрони ја уништуваат иднината на генерации македонски граѓанки и граѓани, неможејќи повеќе да седиме и немо да го набљудуваме разнебитувањето на сѐ што е демократско, одбивајќи да правиме компромис и да се пазариме со нелегитимниот режим,
Ние, кои протестиравме низ улиците на Македонија во име на слободата, правдата и еднаквоста, го упатуваме овој ПРОГЛАС ЗА ЗДРУЖУВАЊЕ до сите слободо и правдољубни сили во општеството под знамето на заедничката борба за ослободување од корумпираните деспоти кои нѐ доведоа до работ на целосна пропаст.
Повикуваме на масовен протест, денес, среда 13 април 2016, кој ќе започне од пред канцелариите на Специјалното јавно обвинителство во Скопје. Бараме:
- Отпочнување на процес за избор на експертска влада, која ќе го подготви теренот за вистински слободни, кредибилни и демократски избори и која ќе го помогне, наместо да го саботира соочувањето со правдата на политичарите и властодршците за сторените кривични и криминални дела;
- Оставка на Претседателот на Републиката поради срамниот обид да ја попречи правдата и да ги аболицира криминалците;
- Конечно, бараме итно суспендирање на отпочнатиот процес на распишување на парламентарни избори.
Ќе протестираме секој ден во 18:00! Протестот ќе биде особено гласен во петок, 15 април, пред Собранието на Република Македонија, за кога е најавено распишување на предвремени избори.
Повикуваме на здружување на сите граѓанки и граѓани, на сите формални и неформални граѓански организации, особено пленумите, вклучително Студентски пленум, Прoфесорски пленум, Наставнички пленум, како и ЛД Солидарност, Ајде, Ленка, Мугра, синдикатите, урбаните иницијативи, организациите кои беа дел од коалицијата „Граѓаните за Македонија“ и сите останати кои го споделуваат гневот, но и желбата за правда и демократија, да се приклучат кон протестите.
Посебен повик упатуваме до најголемата опозициска политичка партија Социјалдемократскиот сојуз на Македонија и нејзините партнери и поддржувачи, да застанат зад овие барања и да се приклучат во што поголем број. Ги повикуваме и останатите опозициски партии: Левица, Демократски сојуз, Либерална партија на Македонија, Демократска обнова за Македонија, Достоинство, Алијанса за позитивна Македонија, Обединети за Македонија, Движењето БЕСА, Движењето за реформи, Унитети и сите останати да се приклучат со што поголема масовност.
Ги повикуваме и поддржувачите на партиите на власт кои не можат повеќе да го трпат дрското непочитување на правдата и поигрувањето со иднината на овој народ, да ни се приклучат и заедно да го отпочнеме процесот на враќање на довербата во институциите и во Македонија.
Овие протести се на сите граѓанки и граѓани. Протестите ни припаѓаат на сите нам, обединети во лутината кон тековниот безизлез и во поривот за подобра иднина, која е поставена на демократски темели.
ВРЕМЕ Е! СЕ ГЛЕДАМЕ НА УЛИЦИТЕ!

“Na ndihmoni, njerëz të Maqedonisë!”

Pjesa e thirrjes së një emigranti i mbyllur në qendrën pranuese në Gazi Baba Shkup, i cili j’u drejtua me falënderime qytetarëve të Maqedonisë të cilët me 15 qershor organizuan marsh solidariteti me emigrantët të cilët kalojnë nëpërmjet këtij shteti.
“I lëmë familjet tona në zjarr! Kemi nevojë për liri që të mundemi ti sjellim familjet tona. Në nuk jemi kriminel. Në jemi njerëz të edukuar, mjekë… Qytetarë, ashtu si ju! Ne nuk kemi problem me njerëzit e Maqedonisë. Ne jemi këtu për ta kaluar shtetin. Policia na thotë “Po kaloni ilegalisht!” Kaluam nëpër Turqi, Greqi, Bullgari, dhe të gjithë na dhanë kohë për tu larguar. Por këtu në e humbim kohën, derisa ligjet të ndryshohen dhe askush nuk na mbështet. Policia na thotë se është në dorë të Gjykatës; gjykata nuk intervenon. Ndërsa në i lëmë familjet tona në zjarr, në luftë… Shkojmë në Evropë që të mund tu ndihmojmë atyre që ngelën në Siri, Afganistan, Irak, Pakistan. Këtu qëndrojmë në kushte shumë të këqija dhe na duhet mbështetja juaj, na duhet mbështetja nga qeveria juaj, nga parlamenti juaj, ndërkaq po e presim këtë mbështetje aq gjatë, askush nuk e ndegjon zërin tonë, këtu po vdesim! Jemi në gjendje shumë të keqe dhe ju jeni te vetmit që mund t’na ndihmoni prej këtu e tutje. Mafia na sulmon, njerëz që duan të na marin paratë, dhe ato pastaj ikin dhe e kalojnë kufirin, ndërsa në jemi këtu për çka? Ato neve nuk na mbështesin, mbështesin ato që i paguajnë, dhe në skemi aq shumë para që të paguajmë mafian… Ju jeni të vetmit që na mbështetni, na duhet ndihma juaj! Na nxirrni prej këtu, po vdesim!
Na ndihmoni, njerëz nga Maqedonia!”

“People of Macedonia, help us!”

Short excerpt from a plea by a migrant at the Migrant Reception Centre in Gazi Baba, who addressed the citizens from Macedonia at the solidarity march for the migrants crossing the country, organised on June 15.
“We are leaving our families under fire! We need freedom to bring our families. We are not criminals. We are educated people, doctors… We are citizens, just like you! We do not have a problem with the Macedonian people. We are here just to cross the country. The police is telling us: “You are crossing illegally”. We crossed Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, and they all gave us time to leave. But here, we are wasting our time, waiting for the law to be changed, and no one is supporting us! The police tells us it is up to the court; the court is not intervening. And we have left our families under fire, in the midst of a war… We go to Europe to help those we left in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan. We are here faced with very bad conditions and we need your support, we need your Government’s support, we need your Parliament’s support! And we’ve been waiting for that support for so long… Our voices are not heard, we are dying here! We are in a very bad situation and you are the only people who can help us from here onwards! We are attacked by the mafia, we are attacked by the people who take our money, and they cross the border and we are here, because of what?! They are not supporting us, they support those who pay them, and we don’t have that much money to pay the mafia… You are the only ones who support us, we need your help! Take us out, we are dying here!
Help us, people of Macedonia!“

„Помогнете ни, луѓе од Македонија!“

Дел од повикот на еден мигрант затворен во Прифатниот центар во Гази Баба, Скопје, кој им се обрати со благодарност на граѓаните од Македонија кои на 15 јуни организираа марш за солидарност со мигрантите кои поминуваат низ државата.
„Ги оставаме нашите фамилии во оган! Потребна ни е слобода за да ги донесеме нашите фамилии. Ние не сме криминалци. Ние сме едуцирани луѓе, доктори… Граѓани, како што сте и вие! Немаме проблем со луѓето од Македонија. Ние сме овде само да ја поминеме земјава. Полицијата ни вели „Поминувате нелегално!“ Поминавме низ Турција, Грција, Бугарија, и сите ни даваа време да заминеме. Но овде го губиме времето, додека законите да се променат и никој не нѐ поддржува. Полицијата ни вели дека е до судот; судот не интервенира. А ги оставаме нашите семејства во огнот, во војна… Одиме во Европа за да можеме да им помогнеме на оние кои останаа во Сирија, Авганистан, Ирак, Пакистан. Овде престојуваме во многу лоши услови и потребна ни е вашата поддршка, потребна ни е поддршка од вашата влада, од вашиот парламент! А ја чекаме таа поддршка толку долго… Никој не го слуша нашиот глас, овде умираме! Во многу лоша состојба сме и вие сте единствени кои можат да ни помогнат одовде понатаму. Мафијата нѐ напаѓа, луѓе кои сакаат да ни ги земат парите, и тие потоа бегаат и ја поминуваат границата, а ние сме овде заради што?! Тие не нѐ поддржуваат, ги поддржуваат оние кои им плаќаат, а ние немаме толку многу пари за да платиме на мафијата… Вие сте единствените кои нѐ поддржуваат, ни треба вашата помош! Извадете нѐ одовде, умираме!
Помогнете ни, луѓе од Македонија!“
