  • Отпочнување на процес за избор на експертска влада, која ќе го подготви теренот за вистински слободни, кредибилни и демократски избори и која ќе го помогне, наместо да го саботира соочувањето со правдата на политичарите и властодршците за сторените кривични и криминални дела;
  • Оставка на  Претседателот на Републиката поради срамниот обид да ја попречи правдата и да ги аболицира криминалците;

March of solidarity: One kilometer in the refugees’ shoes

In addition to impoverished citizens, frail migrants who try to cross Macedonia have long been an everyday sight. They flee from wars and threats, looking for a decent life. For them, Macedonia is but a stop on their way. Yet, we see their ordeal in the country with our own eyes, and we read about it in domestic and foreign media.

According to the testimonies of refugees, parents, youth and children, they are the target of robberies and they are treated in a similar manner even by the police forces who reduce these people to mere criminals, while the real criminals continue to terrorise not just the migrants, but also the citizens of the country. Since international media published stories about the well-known ‘secret’ of criminal groups in the Lipkovo region smuggling migrants and trafficking with people, instead of the bosses, the police has detained the migrants in the Reception Center for Migrants in Gazi Babi.

In solidarity with the migrants and those citizens of Macedonia who live outside of the major cities, in areas where they have been neglected by this system and regime, #Protestiram calls upon the citizens to join a March of Solidarity against discrimination and xenophobia. On June 15, Monday at 18:00, we will gather at the corner of St. Kliment Ohridski boulevard, in front of the Government building, from where we will proceed to the Reception Centre for Migrants in Gazi Baba where the migrants’ rights will be read.

Let us walk from the place where the discriminatory policies are drawn to the place where we see the consequences of the injustice towards the migrants fleeing for a better life.

The fate of the migrants at the Reception centre is also a symbol of the inhumane conditions and the risks that our fellow citizens are faced with, imprisoned and forced into misery, forced to move around or to dream of migrating abroad, looking for a safe and decent life.

We want a state that guarantees a temporary protection of those passing through this land. We demand equal living conditions for everyone in Macedonia, regardless of the geography and the structure of the settlements, because we, its citizens, do not want a future in which we will be considering from whom to escape and where to hide in our pursuit of a better life!

Join in! #Protestiram!

Keeping on!

In the past few days we held many discussions, on and off the streets. The discussions attested to people not having to agree on one opinion and a single voice to act for a more just Macedonia. Those who have supported the different lines of struggle around #Protestiram (#Протестирам) continue their resistance to the regime. Announcements about new actions will follow in the coming period.

We salute all fronts of resistance against the governing regime. The dehumanised rulers and the political parties have forgotten who they represent, that the institutions and the streets belong to the people. Let us claim them back! Let us seize them anew!

We call for mass resistance by the people against this regime and encourage everybody to self-organize. Against single-minded actions! Against uniformity! Each and everyone, whenever possible! Always non-violently!

#Protestiram (I protest) is a first person singular. Each and every single person is the source of this struggle. It is everyone’s, everywhere, always!

Public announcement

16.05.2015, Skopje

With a reminder of the long-term resistance of all citizens for justice and freedom, (#Протестирам) #Protestiram is calling everyone to a protest gathering at 1pm on 17 May in front of Primary Court Skopje 1 in Skopje. This will be followed by a joint march to the Government of the Republic of Macedonia building with a symbolic start at 5 minutes to 2pm.

At the evening gathering in front of the Parliament that took place after the 15 May protest, citizens, who had been protesting every day from 6pm since 5 May, agreed to join the protest scheduled for 17 May. The protest will commence at 1pm in front of Primary Court Skopje 1 – Skopje. Together with the Student Plenum, we will ask for release of the political prisoners arrested from 5 May onwards. At 1:55 pm, in a joint march and as a reminder of the long-term and collaborative battle of all citizens, we will proceed towards the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. With emphasis on the authenticity of the movement, the citizens from #Protestiram (#Протестирам) will come together again at 6pm near the Government building on Kliment Ohridski Boulevard.

This decision was a result of the horizontal structure of the movement and the desire to promote equality in the process of decision-making. The decision-making is inclusive and aims to preserve the diversity of everyone who stands behind the demands of #Protestiram (#Протестирам), demands that united its participants. As a reminder, #Protestiram (#Протестирам) is an authentic, self-organised movement with three main demands and lines of action that brought the citizens together:

  1. Urgent resignation of the whole Government led by Nikola Gruevski with political and legal responsibility for the unconstitutional, corrupt and unethical governing,
  2. Urgent release of all the activists arrested from 5 May onwards,
  3. Forming a government with a capacity to democratise the institutions and enable fair and democratic elections.

Come and join us!

Press release and press conference invitation

From: #Протестирам (#Protestiram)

Skopje, 13 May 2015

All doubts are now cast: a self-organised citizens’ movement on the rise will defeat the unjust and dehumanised regime! The dominos have started falling! Yesterday, May 12, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski accepted the resignations of Minister of Interior Gordana Jankuloska, Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski, and the Director of the Security and Counterintelligence Agency, Sasho Mijalkov.

These resignations are a victory for the people and further encouragement that the actions of #Протестирам have been bringing about changes for the better.

We will not end here! A skin-deep government reconstruction or mere replacement of positions of one corrupt elite with another will not help to overcome the systemic crisis that Macedonia and its citizens face. Therefore, we will be on the streets, every day at 18:00h, until all of our three demands are met:

1) Urgent resignation and political and legal responsibility of the entire government led by Nikola Gruevski for unconstitutional, corrupt, and unethical rule;

2) Urgent release of all activists detained since 5 May onwards;

3) Formation of a government to democratise the institutions and to make fair and democratic elections possible.

In response to the recent resignations, #Протестирам would like to invite all media representatives to a press conference at 13:00 in front of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.

We invite all citizens of Macedonia to take to the streets in greater numbers and decisively join the protests, every day at 18:00 in front of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. This is only the beginning! Together, united in the spirit of solidarity, justice and peace, we stand at the forefront of freedom. Stronger than ever, we continue onwards! Join us!

We shall prevail!

Respectfully,

#Протестирам

Press Release

From: #Protestiram #Протестирам

Skopje, 11 May 2015

MOVING FORWARD!

Yesterday, 10 May 2015, at 18:00 in the City Park in Skopje, there was a peaceful gathering of activists and citizens who have been demanding, daily, accountability from the inhumane Government led by Nikola Gruevski. The purpose of the gathering was to pay respect to the victims in Kumanovo, to show solidarity with the citizens of Kumanovo, and to send a message for calm and sober action in the days to come!

Furthermore, we stress that the most authentic wave of self-organised citizens’ discontent will not stop! We no longer feel fear, only revulsion by this authoritarian government and their dark scenarios! We demand peace and justice, and that can only be achieved if they leave! Now!

Therefore, our demands are:
1) Immediate resignation and accountability of the entire Government;
2) Urgent release of all activists detained from 5 May onwards;
3) The forming of a Government for the democratization of public institutions.

On 11 May 2015, on the second day of mourning over the deaths in Kumanovo, at 18:00 we will head towards the Government building with a message for peace and justice. We will give our condolences for the people killed and we will repeat our demands. We will take to the streets every day, till our final victory.

Our anger and revulsion has been growing and smouldering for years. We are at the forefront against any injustice – regardless whether it is systematic brutality, bad reforms in higher and secondary education, or the state racket of contract workers. In the past, we have protested for the freedom of the press, in support with media employees, and demanded liberation of the public broadcasting service and its return to the citizens. We demanded accountability for the ruined public health system. We have persistently fought for life with dignity and labour rights and we protest against the theft, impoverishment, and humiliation of the people.

On 5 May 2015, it became clear: they will not resign, the public prosecutor will not prosecute them, and the public broadcasting service will always side with them. Three days ago, when the protests were taking hold and spread to several cities, an armed incident occurred in Kumanovo. People following these events, citizens of Kumonovo among them, speak of a number of contradictions, inconsistencies and manipulations, which point toward a serious doubt over the nature of the events in Kumanovo. The civil sector noticed, in the official version relating to the armed incident, multiple blunders. We demand answers to a growing number of questions, a demand that all voices in society share – answers for the loss of life and the endangering of our collective security.

We are more numerous, more united and have more solidarity than ever before. We call on all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia who cannot stand the injustice, destitute and dark manipulations of the Government, to join us, together, in a supraethnic, suprapartisan, authentic civic movement for peace and justice!

We shall prevail!

With respect,

#Protestiram #Протестирам
